Investigate the details of the Pine Bush through our public programs. These educational programs are open to the public and welcome individuals, families and small groups (less than eight people) to participate. Programs are led by Pine Bush staff, volunteers, or special guest experts. There are a diversity of topics to choose from including native plant landscaping, insect investigation, snowshoe exploration, historical tour and much more. Looking for a one-of-a-kind learning experience for your students? The globally rare Albany Pine Bush offers schools a locally unique outdoor classroom where learning comes alive. Our programs also travel to schools, bringing the Pine Bush to your classroom. Whether you’re part of a Girl Scout Troop, Boy Scout Troop, 4-H Club, Play Group, Seniors’ Club, Community Group, Religious Organization or other special interest group, the Pine Bush invites you to join us for a guided program. Indoors or out, our special interest group programs cover a wide variety of topics including snowshoeing, plant identification, beginning bird watching, legends and lore and night hikes. Nature exploration for the very young is now offered at the Albany Pine Bush Discovery Center! Preschoolers age 2–5 are invited to attend our semi-annual preschool program series “Pine Bush Pups.” Each program will explore a part of the Pine Bush that is unique and incorporates a song or story, hands-on exploration of the topic, and craft project. Take a break from your work day to join us at lunch time on the first Friday of every month for a 60 minute walk through the Preserve. Each Friday we will discuss a new aspect of the Pine Bush. Click here to see the program topics and where to meet.
Looking to get more involved? Help us teach others about the Pine Bush and become an education volunteer! Choose from four volunteer opportunities: Volunteer Docent in the Discovery Center, Volunteer Educator leading public and school groups in the Preserve, or Volunteer Naturalist interacting with Preserve visitors on the trails.
