Home: Discovery Center: Donations A Way to be Involved…..In an Involved EcosystemJoin the Friends of the Pine Bush Community!
Click here to download a membership form! Friends of the Pine Bush Community, Inc. is a membership corporation formed for the charitable and educational purpose of supporting the activities of the Albany Pine Bush Preserve Commission as stewards of the Preserve. The FRIENDS work cooperatively with Commission staff to further conservation and education within the Preserve -- especially through organized activities and the facilities and programs of the Albany Pine Bush Discovery Center. Opportunities abound for FRIENDS. As a FRIEND, you can volunteer as an environmental educator to enhance public appreciation and promote stewardship of the natural and cultural resources of the Pine Bush. You may assist Commission staff in the operation of the Discovery Center or help staff and students at Farnsworth Middle School to rear endangered Karner Blue butterflies. Other FRIENDS volunteers will help tell the stories of the Pine Bush from its cultural history to its unique ecological character. Furthermore, FRIENDS considers it our charge to help maintain the integrity of this unique inland Pine Barrens community -- home to rare animals, plants and natural communities. There are many opportunities for each volunteer to help with stewardship activities. Some projects may focus on long-term monitoring of the biological, hydrological and geological assets for long term protection. Membership dues and fundraising efforts will help fund projects, such as stewardship activities, a Friends Speakers Club, teaching resource kits used by volunteer educators, and special-theme interpretive displays at the Discovery Center. Your membership and participation in FRIENDS activities can make a difference in furthering many conservation and education goals in the Preserve. We appreciate your interest and support for the Preserve and look forward to your involvement as a FRIEND.
