Don’t Forget to Check!

Deer ticks are found throughout the Pine Bush.  Some deer ticks carry Lyme Disease and can infect both people and their pets.

To protect yourself, please follow these simple precautions while visiting the Albany Pine Bush Preserve:

  • Stay on marked trails.

  • Wear light-colored long pants and long-sleeved shirt.  Tuck pant legs into socks and tuck shirt into pants.

  • Consider using insect repellent, following label directions carefully.

  • Check yourself frequently for ticks during your visit.

  • Do a complete body check for ticks after your visit. Be sure to check children and pets too.

  • Follow NYS Department of Health procedure for removing ticks (please see pamphlet in trail register boxes).
