Event Description:

Suitable for tweens, teens and adults

Kick-off New York State’s Invasive Species Awareness Week with a hike through a globally rare environment strongly affected by invasive species. Learn about the unusual native plants and animals of the Albany Pine Bush Preserve, as well as their non-native competitors. This will be a longer hike of approximately 3 miles over rolling sand dunes.

Reservations are required for all public programs.

Fee: Free! Reservations required for all attendees (regardless of age). Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Make reservations by calling 518-456-0655 or visit www.AlbanyPineBush.org/events

Please plan to arrive at least 5-10 minutes before the start of the program to check in.

Note: Programs begin promptly at times listed. If you make a reservation for a program and then decide you will not be able to attend please call us or cancel your reservation online to open up those spaces to others.

While leashed pets are permitted on marked trails, we ask that visitors not bring pets to our educational programs.

CANCELLATION POLICY: No refunds for programs with fees. It is, however, permissible to send or designate another person to use your program reservation.

DIRECTIONS TO APB DISCOVERY CENTER: From I-87 take exit 2W (Rt 5 West, Central Avenue). Follow Rt 5 for about 2 miles then turn left onto Rt 155 (New Karner Rd). Continue on Rt 155 for about 1.2 miles. The Discovery Center is located on the left at 195 New Karner Road. (518)456-0655
